Statistics show that 1 in 10 teen girls suffer from an eating disorder; and 1 in 4 are at a dangerously high risk of developing an eating disorder or eating-disorder-like habits at some time in their young adult life. Eating disorders have also been known to effect boys, although in far fewer numbers than girls.
One of the biggest problems with eating disorders is that many teens do not know the cold and ugly facts about what these illnesses can do to the human body until it is too late. Even worse, many teens romanticize eating disorders, making the problem out to be a show of strength rather than part of an unhealthy obsession.
